Last Approach : Above the Sonic

Above the Sonic is the new album by welsh quartet Last Approach who seem to be getting better with every passing performance, a lot of good welsh bands in this vein have come out from this the likes of Funeral for a Friend and Lost Prophets to name, but a few you may think this bold, I believe these boys are in the same league, they just need time as well as more supporters, with a bit of luck both should happen.

Throughout Above The Sonic these musicians showcase their experience in such a confident mould, the way each track is put together is very accomplished, they should be very happy with how it sounds it reminds me of angrier Brand New, who like Last Approach all started in other hardcore bands, but then came together to create something new and worth listening to.

Above the Sonic combines their instrumental skills with their song writing powers, which shows that in the future this band will be something to be taken seriously, they are passionate about the music they make as well as have a lot of ambition you need a healthy dose of both plus talent and thick skin in some respects. I hope that as artists they only improve this style, but do not over polish it or the naturalist element will fade from their work.

The track ‘Unknown,’ is really easy to indentify with as it as we have all been in that period of limbo when things are uncertain and Last Approach touch on this point and are able to turn that feeling into words and instrumentals, although all the tracks are strong on this album this is in my opinion one of the better tracks.
