When you think of Welsh music, a few names usually spring to mind such as Lost Prophets, Stereophonics, Aled Jones… Well now there’s a new name in town, and that name is The Calling Card.
Heralding from South Wales, The Calling Card have been steadily building a dedicated following of fans with their unique blend of Indie and Hardcore. Indie and Hardcore you say? Yes indeed, and before you go tearing down your Libertines posters in indignation let me tell you that it works a treat.
Breathing fresh life into a genre that has grown stagnant and weak from a constant recycling of ideas, The Calling Card take the best elements of Indie and make them their own. Catchy choruses and an ear for the out of the ordinary abound in their song writing. Throw in raw vocals, crushing guitars and ear-splitting drums that would make most metal bands go weak at the knees and you’ve got a recipe for success.
‘Everything You’re Not’ is a bold statement of an album from a band that is in no doubt as to what they’re about, defining their sound with confidence and flair. As the first track on the album declares, The Calling Card truly are ‘The New Kings Of This Town’ so take heed. The Calling Card haven’t just come to say hello, they’ve come to reign on high. Long Live The Calling Card.
