This Black Heart Beats Faster Than Yours – The Hudson Super Six

‘This Black heart beats faster than yours’ is the new album by Derby based four piece Hudson Super Six. Fresh from headlining the allotment stage at the Ynot festival you would think that this would be the perfect time for the group to release the entire album and you would be right.

They have got a finished article that highlights what they are about as musicians and what you can expect from them, their sound is very sultry, lyrics gripped in rock and roll. Every track I have heard live and on this album emit a great source of energy that makes you want more from their music.

The use of guitar in The Hudson Super 6 is superbly manipulated as it stitches everything they do together. The drums act like an anchor to each track, in particular the song ‘Heartbreakin.’

It is a very infectious track and you can see why many people are dancing around or toe stomping to it when it is heard. For me it was a pleasant surprise to hear this type of sultry rock being showcased by a Derby based band.

I hope with this they never compromise their sound as it is one to be proud of in many ways, all the use of instrumentals help their front man echo in a dark, yet spirited way the vocal message of each track.

If Billy Talent and The Black Key had a want away child, Hudson Super 6 would be such a child as they crash, rock and soulfully exert their trade to alleviate the burden of other sounds to your eardrums.

The main track that stole the show for me as it plays to all the groups strengths is ‘Sunshine is your enemy,’ this is simple a great track and will be a part of playlist ever more.
