In July 2011, Quenched Music are deploying a band of highwaymen and ruffians on a road trip to Serbia’s EXIT Festival 2011.
Quenched founders Danni Skerritt and Ben Tallon will be providing pictures and words alongside the unbridled talents of film makers Asim Ali and 2010 Exit ‘Best Fan Video’ winner Sean Kennedy in creating a film documentary and trans-media project, ‘Turn Right at EXIT.’ The film will chronicle the journey through Europe and the festival itself.
All being well, there will be a return journey, though no Eagles and Wizards will be assisting us on the long drive home… Welcome to the nucleus for ‘Turn Right at EXIT.
It’s that time of year again the great festival season where people make decisions on music, where they want to be, what’s the new fad or they just want some quality time with a group of friends surrounding themselves in a field of like minded persons, like clockwork the rush for tickets consumes us all, yet the circle continues as like worker ants we plot and scrap for this ambrosia that are tickets to these events.
Quenched Music has again been drawn to the rich culture of Serbia once more boasting riches from Portishead, Pulp, Arcade Fire and Deadmaus.
My name is Danni Skerritt, editor. I reviewed Exit festival last year for Quenched Music as part of the press team.
I’m bored of the same tired reviews of festivals and will not be standing for it any longer the 1st-16th of July we are going to film a documentary that will be used in next year’s Exit festival as a short film or as a promotional tool, it will consist of a team of four individuals taking a vehicle from Manchester to Serbia.
The documentary will also be cross media based including filming, tweeting, blogging, illustrating and photographing the journey.
This will be two week long drive we are filming our journey going to Exit and passing through a few countries, stopping at gigs along the way and on the way back we will be doing the same but on an alternate route checking out what makes their music scene so special in an industry that has become so international thanks to technology.
The team will consist of world renowned Illustrator Ben Tallon (Co owner of Quenched Music) who has been doing a lot of work on Channel 4’s Skins, The Guardian and Mix Mag. He is eager to offer his services as Art Director to the project creating original illustrations capturing the festival atmosphere and the story of our Journey.
The next two individuals will be doing the filming. Sean Kennedy a Manchester based film maker who attended the festival last year and won the Exit short video competition, along with video skills he writes reviews and interviews for Quenched Music.
Collaborating with Sean on the filming part will be Asim Ali, whose past experiences include working on the short documentary ‘Honour Me’ which featured at Cannes, and Raindance, along with more recently shooting a Making of Documentary for a upcoming British Horror Feature Film ‘Speak No Evil.’
This is going to be one of the biggest challenges Quenched Music has taken on, but confidence is high in the camp and Quenched Heads it will not be for the faint heart look for us in the distance as we could be passing through a town near you, look forward to getting in touch to our supporters in the rest of Europe.
